Henk Schoot professor for theology of Thomas Aquinas

As of 1 May 2006 Henk Schoot, member of the Thomas Instituut te Utrecht and of the board of the institute has been appointed extraordinary professor for the theology of Thomas Aquinas at the Catholic Theological University at Utrecht (KTU), Netherlands.
The appointment is an initiative of the foundation Stichting Thomas Fonds te Utrecht. The chair will be located at the Thomas Instituut. It is the first chair world wide which is dedicated to the theology of Thomas Aquinas.

Professor Henk Schoot studied theology in Utrecht, Amsterdam, Notre Dame and Paris. He did his thesis on Aquinas' christology, entitled Christ, the 'Name' of God. Thomas Aquinas on naming Christ (Peeters, Louvain 1993).

Henk Schoot has been the first secretary of studies at the institute and still is editor-in-chief of the yearbook. Since 1995 he is lecturer of systematic theology at the KTU.
In 2004 he has been ordained deacon and as such he is responsible for the training of deacons in the archdiocese of Utrecht.

Professor Schoot will held his inaugural lecture two days before the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, on 26 January 2007 at Utrecht.
